Incentives highlight Air Force's 2009 club membership campaign

By Robert Goetz 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

Three months' free dues, a cash-back rewards program and a chance to win $250 will be available when the Air Force kicks off its 2009 club membership campaign next month.

Personnel who join any Air Force club, including Randolph's Parr and Kendrick Clubs, between June 15 and Aug. 15 will also receive a 0 percent introductory rate for six months on all purchases and balance transfers when they use their membership card.

"We want all personnel to consider club membership and understand the benefits of club membership, and our instant payback club membership campaign gives them the opportunity to try their club free for the first three months," said Fred McKenney, Air Force Food and Beverage Division chief.

Mike Casey, 12th Services Division Business Flight chief, said membership is vital to the future of Randolph's clubs.

"Without membership the clubs at Randolph would not exist," he said. "And without the clubs, the services they provide would be not available, at least in the form they are today."

Merilyn Gove, Randolph clubs general manager, said both facilities cater about 25 events with 2,000 participants in an average week.

"These events run from commanders' calls to weddings, promotion parties to retirements, graduation parties to baptismal parties, farewell parties to briefings, and much, much more," she said. "And these events are in addition to providing restaurant, bingo and lounge service and catering to numerous activities on base."

The clubs' Military Free Cash rewards program allows members to earn 2 percent cash back on eligible purchases at any on-base Services activity, including AAFES and the commissary. Cash back also applies to gasoline purchases.

Club members also earn 1 percent cash back on eligible purchases everywhere else, including off-base establishments.

Cash-back points earned can be redeemed for cash, gift cards and travel, including airline tickets, hotel fare and car rental.

Mr. Casey said an additional bonus is that 200 members will be randomly selected to receive $250 by registering via an on-line survey at www.afclubs.net. At Randolph, all new members will be entered into a weekly drawing for $100 in cash.

Mr. McKenney said the clubs have much to offer.

"Air Force clubs offer members numerous free and inexpensive activities, including discounts on every meal to include special functions," Mr. McKenney said.

Membership in the clubs is open to all active duty, retirees and Randolph civilian employees, both civil service personnel and contractors. Membership promotional materials, including applications, can be found in the clubs and in other Air Force Services establishments.
