Memorial Day is a time for us to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, let us also remain mindful of the importance of safety both on and off duty.
Whether you are traveling, spending time outdoors, grilling, swimming, or enjoying recreational activities, please make safety a priority. Plan ahead, avoid distracted or impaired driving, wear seatbelts, stay hydrated in the Texas heat, and ensure children and pets are supervised at all times. If participating in water activities, wear appropriate flotation devices and never underestimate changing conditions.
This holiday weekend traditionally sees an increase in traffic, outdoor mishaps, and preventable injuries. Taking a few extra moments to assess risks and make sound decisions can help ensure everyone returns safely to work and home with their loved ones.
Most importantly, take time to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes and their families.
