JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas –
Joint Base San Antonio officials issued an “all clear” Nov. 8 at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph after a gas leak was discovered that morning near the central area of the base.
At approximately 3 p.m., JBSA officials working with representatives from CPS Energy secured the gas line and declared the area safe.
“Our first responders were on scene within minutes, and their work was instrumental in ensuring the incident was contained,” said Roger Wilkson, director, 502nd Civil Engineer Squadron. “Our number one priority is the safety of the JBSA community.”
The incident occurred when a truck breached a gas pipe causing a leak. Officials initially evacuated personnel from buildings near the area of concern as a precautionary measure and established a 300-foot cordon. The cordon is now lifted and members may safely return to the evacuated buildings. No injuries were reported.
