FRIDAY, APRIL 5
Friday, April 5, is the Practice and Media Day for the 2024 Great Texas Airshow. This day is not open to the public, but base personnel and residents will be able to see flying acts as they practice for the weekend airshow. Flying hours are expected from approximately 0900 to 1600, so expect increased aircraft noise during flying hours. Friday is focused on targeted engagements with the media and community groups as well as finalizing setup, and we encourage base residents and DOD cardholders to attend the Airshow on Saturday or Sunday for the full airshow experience.

Note: During the Airshow, the Stable Gate will be available for exit from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those who exit via the Stable Gate between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. will be able to turn either right or left onto FM 1518. Those exiting between 4-6 p.m. when the gate closes will only be able to turn right onto FM 1518.

From the North If you're coming from the north (exiting off I-35, taking TX-1604 Loop, Farm to Market Road 1518, Pat Booker Road, or any other road south toward the installation), the entrances are along Farm to Market Road 78.
Guests are encouraged to enter the installation through the East Gate on Farm to Market Road 78, whether coming from the west or the east.
From the South If you're coming from the south (exiting off I-10, taking TX-1604 Loop, Farm to Market Road 1518, or any other road north toward the installation), the entrances are along Lower Seguin Road.
Parking Information
A detailed parking map will be available soon.
Please note that parking will be limited, so we encourage you to use the VIA Park and Ride service to and from The Great Texas Airshow. For DOD ID cardholders not living on JBSA-Randolph, we recommend utilizing shuttle options from JBSA-Lackland or JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. Please see info on this website.
For guests with disabilities, we have designated accessible parking spaces available. Additionally, complimentary ADA shuttles will be provided to transport disabled visitors from the designated disabled parking lot to the flight line and back.
To ensure a smooth experience for all attendees, we kindly request that only those with valid disability placards or license plates utilize the designated disabled parking area and ADA shuttle service.
Stay tuned for the upcoming parking map, which will provide detailed information on parking locations and guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making this event accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
The following items will not be permitted on the flight line and are subject to confiscation:
-- Weapons (regardless of permit) including firearms, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), replica or toy weapons, pepper spray or stun guns -- Alcoholic beverages -- Remote control devices that operate on land or air (cars, planes, drones, etc.) -- Ice chests or coolers -- Pets, other than service animals -- Flammable liquids -- Glass containers -- Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, Heelys, scooters, skateboards, or Segway-style human transporters -- Backpacks (Diaper bags allowed after inspection) Only CLEAR backpacks 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches will be permitted. Small shoulder bags and purses will be permitted, even if they are not clear, but they will be liable to search. -- Fireworks -- Laser pointers -- Tents, portable or temporary awnings, cabanas -- Outside food and beverages. Attendees may bring in reusable water bottles to fill at water stations. Exceptions: Baby food, breast milk and formula is permitted.
Note: Soliciting on base, to include distribution of flyers of any kind, is prohibited.

VIA Park & Ride fare to and from the JBSA Airshow is only $1.30 each way or $2.60 round trip, with discounted fares for children, seniors, students, and active-duty U.S. military. VIA passes, including the VIA U-Pass, are accepted for event service.
Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Crossroads Park & Ride location at 151 N. Crossroads Boulevard in Balcones Heights, behind the Wonderland of the Americas Mall, near the intersection of Loop 410 and Interstate 10. Pre-purchase your fares using VIA’s free goMobile+ app for faster boarding. Children under age 5 ride free. VIAtrans service is also available to the JBSA Airshow for registered patrons. Please see the PROHIBITED ITEMS section for what can and cannot be brought to the Airshow. For the 2024 Great Texas Airshow at JBSA-Randolph, please note that Uber is the only rideshare provider with verified access to the installation. To ensure a smooth arrival, Ubers will only be permitted entry through the West Gate, with drop-offs located near the West Ramp.
Other rideshare services will not be granted access to the rideshare entrance at the airshow and will have to go through the parking route. Additionally, if your rideshare attempts to enter JBSA-Randolph through the Main, East, South, or Lower Seguin Gates, you may face significant delays due to traffic congestion, as you would have to go all of the way through to the parking lots on the East Ramp.
TO & FROM JBSA-FORT SAM HOUSTON First bus departs from FSH at 0815 departing from FSH every 30 minutes with return service through- out the day. The last shuttle will depart from FSH at 1430 and remain in place at RND until show end at 1600. At show ends when first bus is filled at 1600 it will depart, and second bus will be filled. When second bus is completely full it will depart. Due to traffic the buses may not return from FSH until 1700 for the next pickup.
TO & FROM JBSA-LACKLAND First bus departs from LAK at 0800, second 0830, third 0900. There will be round-robin support throughout the day with the last pickup at LAK 1400. At end of show first bus will depart when filled, second pulled up and depart when seating is maximized. Third bus will not depart until filled or 1630 whichever occurs first, however, based on the round trip time of 90 minutes buses will not return.

Media wishing to cover the Great Texas Airshow are invited to do so and should coordinate with the 502d Air Base Wing Public Affairs office for a media escort. The 502d Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio commander, Air Show Boss and representatives from the aerial demonstration teams are scheduled to be available for interviews.

How much are tickets? Free! Any attempt to sell you admission tickets is a scam and we ask that you please report it at 502ABW.PA.official@US.AF.MIL or via Facebook Messenger to the JBSA account. The Great Texas Airshow is free and open to the general public.
What identification is required to get on base? There will be no identification requirements for visitors entering for the airshow. Distinguished visitors and vendors will be vetted prior to the Airshow.
Will there be a drop-off location near the viewing areas? (i.e. drop off individuals who cannot walk far distances) There will be ADA-equipped surrey bus shuttles provided from the general parking area to the airshow areas. The busses will be running routes to and from the East parking area all day on both days.
Is there a schedule for the aerial performances? The show starts at 11 a.m. and the Thunderbirds performance starts at 3 p.m. each day.
Will public roadways be closed during the Airshow? Any road closures will be minimal. Traffic flow, base entry and parking information can be found at JBSA AIRSHOW.
Can a Department of Defense cardholder sponsor non-cardholders through during the Airshow? The airshow is completely free and open to the public. Non-DOD cardholders will not need to be sponsored on the installation.
Will hearing protection be provided? Earplugs are not provided to attendees. Visitors are highly encouraged to bring their own for ease of use or comfort.
Are seats available or can I bring my own foldable chairs? Guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs.
Can I bring my own food and drinks to the Airshow? Attendees may bring in reusable water bottles to fill at water stations. Exceptions: Baby food, breast milk and formula is permitted.
Can we bring alcohol onto the base? Alcohol will be available for purchase at the airshow. It must be consumed on the premises and we ask that people have a plan for a designated driver to get them home safely.
Will spectators be allowed to take photos and video? Of course! We encourage all visitors to take photos and videos throughout the event.
Will there be sitting areas, restrooms, etc. for people with disabilities? There will also be handicap accessible bathrooms available. There are no designated seating areas.
Are pets allowed? Only service animals are allowed at the airshow.
If we are an exhibitor, performer or part of the static display group, are we allowed to sell memorabilia? The master concessionaire has exclusivity for merchandise sales. If your unit/ organization wants to earn money they can volunteer to work for the master concessionaire to man a food booth. Please send an email to 502abw.pa.official@us.af.mil for more info.
Do you have T-shirts, caps, etc., for sale? If so, where can they be purchased? Airshow novelty items will be available for purchase at multiple locations on the Airshow site.
How is handicap parking for the general public is being handled? There will be handicap parking (please have international symbol for handicap must be displayed on placard and/or plate).
Will there be a motorized wheelchair (scooters, etc.) drop-off location and access to viewing areas? There will be ADA compliant vans available to transport mobility impaired spectators to the entry control point
Is there a special entrance for military personnel? DOD cardholders will be able to access the installation through the West Gate. Due to limited parking on base, we encourage everyone to use the general parking area.
Are camera backpacks or sling bags allowed items? No. Please view the prohibited items list at https://www.jbsa.mil/Information/JBSA-AIRSHOW/.
Can we bring a wagon to carry folding chairs and umbrellas? Wagons are authorized, but umbrellas are not.
Can we drive our RV/ motorhomes onto the base for the airshow and park overnight? RVs, motorhomes, or trailers (5th wheels, camping trailers, boat trailers, etc.) are prohibited items for the airshow.
Will the hours for any facilities throughout JBSA be affected during the airshow? During the weekend of The Great Texas Airshow, from April 5-7, there will be certain facilities run by 502nd Force Support Squadron throughout Joint Base San Antonio that will have reduced manning or will be closed. In particular, the fitness centers at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston and JBSA-Lackland will have reduced manning, while the Rambler at JBSA-Randolph will have 24/7 access only. The Fitness Assessment Cell at JBSA-Randolph will be closed April 5. The clubs at JBSA-Lackland and JBSA-Randolph will be closed to assist with airshow operations. At JBSA-Randolph, the Information Tickets & Tours Office, the Frame Shop, and the Outdoor Recreation office will be closed April 5. The JBSA-Randolph Oaks Golf Course will be closed April 5-7. The JBSA-Randolph Library will be closed April 6.

What if I lose my kid during the airshow? We have a system in place to help you reunite with your children.
-- When you enter the airshow, you can get a white wristband for free at the entry control points. Write down your phone number on the bracelet and put it on your child’s wrist. This way, if your child gets lost, we can call you and let you know where to find them.
-- If you find a lost child, please bring them to the nearest information booth or the lost children booth. If they’re wearing a bracelet, we will check their bracelet and dial the number on it. We will also announce their name and location on the loudspeakers.
-- If you lose your child, please check your phone for any calls from us. You can also go to the lost children booth or any information booth and ask for help. We help you locate your child and reunite you as soon as possible.
