433rd Medical Group hosts visit from Air Force Medical Command IMA

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas,

Brig. Gen. Kristin A. Hillery, Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, Air Force Medical Command, visited the 433rd Medical Group on Jan. 11, meeting with unit members and recognizing their achievements.

During her visit, Hillery praised the group's commitment to providing high-quality medical care in various environments. She also highlighted the importance of their work in supporting the Air Force's global operations.

The 433rd MDG has recently participated in several medical missions, with Alamo Wing Reserve Citizen Airmen deploying in support of humanitarian efforts in locations including El Salvador and Honduras. The unit is also preparing for upcoming missions in support of U.S. Southern Command.

Hillery discussed some of last year’s changes to the Air Force Medical Service, including the formation of Air Force Medical Command, designed to improve medical readiness and enhance the service's ability to provide medically ready forces.

Part of her visit focused on recognizing the important work of medical professionals in the service.

Several 433rd MDG members were recognized for their outstanding performance and dedication, including Master Sgt. Manuel Cordova, a 433rd Medical Squadron medical technician, who was coined for his exceptional leadership and contributions to the unit.

The general thanked Alamo Wing Reservists for all they do, acknowledging the added effort reservists make in balancing their civilian and military responsibilities

"Thank you for all you do, I know many of you have to drive in or fly from far away locations to serve here, so I know it's a grind." Hillery said. "We appreciate this, and tell your families thank you. It's amazing that people still are volunteering, coming in wanting to make everything better, it’s fantastic."

The visit served as a morale boost for the unit, which has been working tirelessly to ensure its readiness and support the Air Force's medical mission.

"It was an honor to meet Brig. Gen. Hillery and hear her thoughts on the future of Air Force medicine," said Lt. Col. Angela Mudd, 433rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron commander. "Her visit was a great reminder of the importance of our work and the impact we have on the Air Force's global operations."
