GREAT LAKES, Illinois - Petty Officer 1st Class Sarah Minnick, a recruit division commander, corrects the neckerchief of one of her recruits inside their compartment of the USS Kearsarge recruit barracks at Recruit Training Command. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy’s only boot camp. The command’s mission is to transform civilians into smartly disciplined, physically fit, basically trained Sailors who are ready for follow-on training and service to the fleet while instilling in them he highest standards of honor, courage, and commitment.
