Smoking in bed is the leading cause of fire deaths

In the United States, smoking materials are the leading cause of fire deaths, as reported by the U.S. Fire Administration. Some significant deterrents in combatting these unnecessary deaths are smoke alarms, smoldering resistant bedding and upholstered furniture. Smoking material fires are preventable.

Re-launch of Army app aims at saving lives

TRADOC’s “WeCare” app is location/post specific, and it supports the Army’s Suicide Prevention Campaign. It serves as a 24/7 ready resource for those feeling alone and considering suicide, or for those who are concerned about someone and are trying to intervene. The app also provides instructions for reporting sexual assault, and has other useful embedded tools.

Faria, Jr., deputy commanding general of interoperability, U.S. Army South, participated in a virtual key leader engagement with personnel from the Jamaica Defence Force, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (West) and the Office of Disaster Preparedness Management Aug. 17 to discuss humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparations in Jamaica and assess capabilities in the event of a natural disaster.

Joint Base San Antonio's newly activated Joint Transition Readiness Center, located on the Brooke Army Medical Center campus, houses the Soldier for Life-Transition Assistance Program. The program currently assists separating service members virtually through the many aspects of this life-changing event and offers full Department of Defense Transition services to members of all branches assigned to JBSA.

JBSA schools to start school year with online instruction

Masks with valves or vents not permitted in SAMHS facilities

For safety purposes, effective Aug. 24, masks with filter valves or vents will no longer be permitted for wear in all San Antonio Military Health System facilities, to include Brooke Army Medical Center, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center and all outlying clinics.
