Clothing issue running faster
February 15, 2007
New basic military trainees rush through Initial Clothing Issue at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, to get everything from boots to hats to battle dress uniforms. Under the old system (shown here), the trainees were issued, then changed into, their BDUs before leaving the facility. Under the new system, trainees change into their physical readiness uniforms instead while collecting their new wardrobe. Changing into PRUs and athletic shoes - instead of button-heavy BDUs and combat boots - has helped save an average of 20 minutes per flight. (USAF photo by Robbin Cresswell)
