Army North participates in Hurricane Dorian preparation

An Army North Observer, Controller, Trainer evaluates Soldiers from 68th Engineer Construction Company, Task Force Operations, Joint Task Force-Civil Support, or JTF-CS, conducting urban search and rescue tasks during Exercise Guardian Response at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center in Indiana May 4. When directed, JTF-CS provides command and control of the 5,200-person Defense Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Response Force (DCRF) during a catastrophic crisis in support of civil authorities and the lead federal agency. Vibrant Response/Guardian Response is an annual combined Command Post Exercise and Field Training Exercise which validates the ability of the DCRF forces to conduct the CBRN Response mission.

‘Take Back Our City’ event targets sexual violence

Army North hosted a "Ready and Resilient" event with comedian Bernie McGrenahan for military members, Department of Defense civilians and family members at the Fort Sam Houston Theater March 29. The event provided resiliency support to the military through Bernie's "Comedy for a Cure" stand-up show and his personal life testimonial.

U.S. Army North provides support to Hurricane Harvey efforts

Matt Hopper, a telecommunications specialist for Task Force 51, Army North (Fifth Army), Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, conducts a vehicle inspection Aug. 28 of the sentinel mobile communication platform in preparation to provide support to civil authority in Houston from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The sentinel can push information to customers within 15 to 30 minutes of arrival and fully set up within a few hours. TF-51 is deploying to Kelly Annex next to JBSA-Lackland to provide command and control over Title 10 assets, which will also provide support to civil authority. The mission of TF-51 is Army North’s contingency command post to conduct support for Defense Support of Civil Authority, or DSCA, homeland defense and theater security cooperation in order to promote the defense and security of the United States.
