Fort Sam Houston Museum planning exhibit improvements for 2019

A 100-year-old serape given to U.S. Army Gen. Hugh Scott from famed Mexican Revolution leader Pancho Villa in the mid-1910s will be put on display next to an exhibit at the Fort Sam Houston about Villa, the Mexican Revolution (1910-20), the relationship between Villa and the U.S. and the troubles along the U.S.-Mexico border during that time period. The display of the serape is one of several updates and additions the museum is making to its exhibits this year.

March 2 marks the 107th anniversary of the first military aerial flight taken by Army Lt. Benjamin Foulois when he boarded the “Signal Corps ‘Aeroplane’ No. 1” and circled Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston’s MacArthur Parade Field.
