Band of the West has a new home

Band of the West is moving to its new home, the former basic military training reception center at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in early November 2017. The $7 million dollar renovation project began in 2014, however, due to congressional sequestration, construction was halted and did not resumed until December 2016.

International Airman Leadership School set to launch

Master Sgt. Amy Ferraro-Rodriguez, 837th Training Squadron instructor, provides professional military education training to international and civil service students during an International Airman Leadership School course Oct. 13, 2017 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Inter-American Air Forces Academy. The IALS teaches the same course imparted to military personnel in the grade of senior airman and staff sergeant or E-5 equivalent in the United States Air Force Total Force. This course is the foundational step in the professional development as it prepares individuals to assume greater leadership and responsibilities.

The Sijan award, first presented in 1981, was named in honor of the first Air Force Academy graduate to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. A Joint Incident Site Communications Capability (JISCC) vehicle is unloaded from an Air Force Reserve Command’s 433rd Airlift Wing C-5M Super Galaxy at Ceiba, Puerto Rico Oct. 1, 2017. JBSA reminds drivers to watch for flooded roadways

Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard, according to Texas Department of Transportation. Many of the deaths occur in automobiles as they are swept downstream. A small car can be carried away with just twelve inches of water, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.
