JBSA-Lackland holds Military Children’s Christmas Party

Senior Airman Krystal Wrigh

HOPE Worldwide hosted the 8th Annual Military Children’s Christmas Party at the Kelly Field Annex here Dec. 12, 2015.

Brig. Gen. Bob LaBrutta, 502nd Air Base Wing and JBSA commander, provided opening remarks and asked everyone to remember the service members stationed and deployed worldwide and are unable to be with their families.

During the party, volunteers distributed more than 600 gifts to Department of Defense children. Families were also able to take photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus and their elves, who arrived in a 502nd Civil Engineer Squadron fire truck. In addition, there was a station for photos with the Grinch, Elsa and Olaf.

“They (his children) were really excited to see Santa arriving on the fire truck,” said Staff Sgt. Nicholas Rynott, 502nd Security Force Squadron unit deployment manager.

Rynott was with his wife, Stacy, and his children: Ashton, 5; Koltan, 3; and Easton, 1.

“This is wonderful,” Stacy said. “It’s something nice to do with the kids. There are so many different things to do.”

Some of the other activities included face painting, temporary tattoos, games and crafts. In addition, there were bouncy castles, a balloon shaper and a magic show.

Ashton said he liked his gift, which was a race car and track, and his favorite part was the bouncing castles.

“We are trying to do everything,” Rynott said. “This is great and we are really glad that we came.”
