Two close matches took place during the second week of the four-team Lackland women's volleyball intramural league Feb. 27 at the Warhawk Fitness Center on Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

First, the 37th Training Group defeated the 37th Mission Support Group 2-0 (21-18, 22-20).

Two kill shots by Francis Osorio helped the 37th TRG win the first game, as well as two aces and five points on serve by Estella Constancio.

TRG won the second match after two bump passes by the 37th MSG went out of bounds.

Desiree Gonzalez contributed two spikes for MSG.

TRG remained undefeated at 2-0 after the match.

Also during the Feb. 27 intramurals, the 859th Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron (Lab) prevailed over the 59th Medical Operations Squadron, 2-1 (21-18, 20-22, 15-6).

Lab won the first game after a kill by Myreen Bueno and two failed returns by MedOps.

Despite falling behind 8-2 during the early going, MedOps came back to win the second game by two points. One serve went out of bounds for Lab, and a well-timed spike by Porsha Visor gave MedOps the edge.

Lab overwhelmed MedOps during the third and deciding game to take the match. Kill shots by Stephanie Ambler, Elizabeth Morales, Holly Tyler and Bueno helped Lab win. Denise Ladd produced the winning serve.

Lab also received much support on bump passes and setups from Cindy Barrera and Kristi Hales.
