Misfits beat out Hell Cats in volleyball playoffs

The 59th Medical Operations Squadron No. 2 "Misfits" squared off against the 37th Mission Support Squadron "Hell Cats" in the first round of intramural volleyball playoffs April 1 at the Warhawk Athletic Center.

The Misfits won the match in two games, winning the first game 21-15. Outside hitter Aimee Alviar was credited with six points in the match and Constance Wolf led the team with seven points. Setter Tiffany Brooks earned an ace in the game.

The Misfits won the second game 21-10, but started slowly. The Hell Cats took an early lead, 7-3, but the Misfits came back to tie the game, reeling off 13 unanswered points, and the Hell Cats never recovered.

Alviar registered three aces in the game. Brooks also notched another ace in the game.

Contracting also was victorious, defeating Medical Operations Squadron No. 1, 2-1. Clinical Support Group beat Air Force Security Forces Center, 2-1.

The championship round of the playoffs will begin April 8 at the Warhawk Fitness Center.

The Misfits will face Contracting in the semifinals round.
