Team Randolph exceeds Combined Federal Campaign goal

By Robert Goetz 12th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs

Team Randolph members met the challenge issued last month by the 12th Flying Training Wing commander, surpassing the base's goal for the Combined Federal Campaign despite a sluggish economy that has prompted many to curtail their charitable donations.

The campaign, an annual fund-raising event benefiting nonprofit organizations that provide health and human services, ended last week with total pledges of $1,126,140, 108 percent of the goal of $1,035,238.

"Kudos to the 12th Flying Training Wing and Team Randolph for not only meeting - but exceeding - our CFC goal this year," said Col. Jacqueline Van Ovost, 12th FTW commander. "I commend everyone who helped carry on Team Randolph's consummate spirit of volunteerism, positivity and giving, especially our CFC key workers for their efforts and energy."

Personnel at Air Education and Training Command pledged $434,095. Other pledges were $275,892 at the 12th FTW, $246,421 at Air Force Personnel Center, $64,323 at Air Force Services Agency, $57,338 at Air Force Manpower Agency, $27,078 at Air Force Recruiting Service and $16,255 at 19th Air Force. Four of the base units exceeded their goals.

The Combined Federal Campaign is one of only two official fund-raising campaigns allowed on Air Force bases. The other is the Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, which is conducted each spring and benefits Air Force charities.

The CFC, the largest workplace charity campaign in the U.S., gives service members and federal and postal employees an opportunity to contribute to prescreened local, national and international charitable organizations of their choice through payroll deduction.

Randolph's campaign began Sept. 9 and ended Oct. 23.
