Gateway Club, Skylark Community Center to host Super Sunday

By Patrick Desmond 502nd Air Base Wing OL-A Public Affairs

The 802nd Force Support Squadron removes the hassle of Super Bowl party-planning by hosting two separate events during the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints at the Gateway Club, inside the Lonestar Lounge and at the Skylark Community Center, Feb. 7 from 3-10 p.m.

The Skylark Community Center's 10th annual party will be in the main ballroom arranged with seven different high-definition TVs, including a jumbo six-foot screen. Guests have a chance to win Army and Air Force Exchange Service gift cards after each quarter.

Center director Ron Lockwood said sweatshirts, hats, footballs and other items will be given out.

"We had 550 people last year," Lockwood said. "I think this will be even better with Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and everyone likes (Saints running back Reggie) Bush. It's going to be a pretty good Super Bowl."

The center will serve hot wings, shredded beef and pork barbecue sandwiches, as well as free snacks.

The Lonestar Lounge offers party-goers four HDTVs, door prizes (including a 22-inch flatscreen TV, and a Blu-ray DVD player), trivia games and a disc jockey.

The lounge's menu: hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, shredded beef, hot wings and nachos are included in the lounge's $5 member and $8 non-member party entry fee.

"Those who want to enjoy the game in quiet can go next door to the Maverick Lounge," Chuck Mullins, event coordinator, said.

Anyone with base access can attend the parties.
