Lackland schools offering students discounted meals

Lackland schools offering students discounted meals. Students attending the Lackland Independent School District may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

At registration, and on the first day of school, each student will be given an application, a set of guidelines, and a letter of explanation about the meal program. Breakfast is $1 and lunch is $2. The reduced price for students is 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch.

Applications for free or reduced meals may be submitted throughout the school year.
Families who may not be eligible at the beginning of the school year, but whose status changes later - such as a decrease in household income, an increase in household size, or unemployment - can reapply.

Information on applications is strictly confidential and is used only to decide eligibility. Approved applications on file from the previous school year will be valid until a new application is received or until Oct. 8, 2012.
