433rd Maintenance Group welcomes new commander

By Senior Airman Brittany Wich 433rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs

Lt. Col. Carla M. Martinez officially assumed command of the 433rd Maintenance Group during a ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Feb. 4. Martinez had been serving as the group’s acting commander since August 2021.

“What I’m looking forward to most is interacting with the troops,” Martinez said. “I really want to get to know each individual airman and be able to hang out with them, talk to them and learn a little bit more about them.”

Col. Terry W. McClain, 433rd Airlift Wing commander, presided over the ceremony and said Martinez was chosen for the position because of her experience as acting group commander.

As 433rd MXG commander, Martinez leads a team of Airmen responsible for all the organizational-level maintenance and logistics support for all assigned C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft, providing overall management, administration and policy oversight to the 433rd Aircraft Maintenance and 433rd Maintenance Squadrons.
