JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –
Eleven WWE Superstars visited Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Jan. 26 for a series of tours and interactive events in partnership with the USO and the JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Boys and Girls Club of America.
WWE Superstars Braun Strowman, Omos, Bayley and Baron Corbin, as well as U.S. Marine veteran and superstar Lacey Evans, started their tour meeting with selected Medical Education and Training Campus students from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force at the Slagel Dining Facility, where they enjoyed lunch together.
They then had a meet-and-greet session at the USO and played pool with METC trainees.
After the USO visit, the WWE members toured several medical training facilities to meet service members and learn about the JBSA training mission.
The Medical Education and Training Campus provided an opportunity for the wrestlers to witness medical training for each of the service branches and get hands-on experiences at training facilities for respiratory therapists, surgical technologists and combat medics.
While at METC, the WWE Superstars were able to experience different simulations that trainees go through in the respiratory therapist program such as dealing with patients in an intensive care unit, the neonatal intensive care unit and a battlefield setting.
In addition to the RT program, the WWE members visited other areas of METC where surgical technologists and combat medics are trained.
“The surgical technologist program offers a great opportunity for members of WWE to experience a mock surgery,” said Lisa Braun, METC Public Affairs. “The program has simulated operating rooms as well as a laparoscopy simulator.
“The combat medic portion of the tour allowed for WWE superstars to understand what skills are required in order to provide pre-hospital care in a combat environment, such as knowing how to properly stop bleeding using a tourniquet,” Braun added.
"I love revisiting military communities. It reminds me of my time in service as a Marine, and I really enjoy when the other WWE Superstars have an opportunity to experience some of the things military service members go through," Evans said.
A separate group of WWE superstars hosted the “Be A STAR” rally at the JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Boys & Girls Club of America.
WWE Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and fellow WWE Superstars Liv Morgan, Doudrop, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins joined more than 70 members of the San Antonio Boys & Girls Club in an event promoting emotional intelligence, bullying prevention and community connection.
The Superstars also participated in two group activities called “Ball of Yarn” and “Common Ground,” with the Boys & Girls Club members. The activities showcased that young people may have things in common with each other that they may not have even known, with the goal of fostering friendship and understanding among everyone.
The event concluded with the Superstars taking pictures and signing autographs for those in attendance.
