JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
Civil Air Patrol cadets from the 125th, 126th and 127th Training Squadrons in the Texas Wing visited the 433rd Airlift Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland July 8.
The visit included a drill experience with military training instructors, briefings on C-5M Super Galaxy engine mechanics and a C-5M aircraft tour.
According to their website, CAP was formed in 1941 and provides civilian aviation resources for emergency response, community services and youth development. CAP also encourages aerospace education through hands-on experience and curriculum for youth.
This visit promoted awareness of U.S. Air Force Reserve career options for the cadets.
“Being a Civil Air Patrol member provides cadets the opportunity of learning necessary skills and tools needed to succeed in today’s Air Force,” said Staff Sgt. Nico Tolliver, 433rd Airlift Wing line recruiter. “From helping in the community, learning about how to fly and establishing core values they are taught at a young age how to be a part of something bigger than themselves. That translates into them becoming strong candidates for the Air Force.”
Cadets were also able to talk with Reserve Citizen Airmen and ask in-depth questions regarding their job responsibilities.
“Overall the CAP members stand out as they already have an understanding of what it takes to make it in today’s military,” Tolliver added.
