JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –
Due to hazardous road conditions and to conserve power, only emergency-essential Joint Base San Antonio personnel, including Brooke Army Medical Center staff supporting patient care, should report to work Friday, Feb. 19.
To ensure the safety of patients and staff and to conserve resources, BAMC has canceled all non-emergency procedures and medical appointments scheduled for Feb. 19.
Patients should receive a call to reschedule. Otherwise, please call the Consult Appointment Management Office, or CAMO, 210-916-9900, which is anticipated to reopen Friday afternoon, weather permitting. The building where CAMO is housed is currently experiencing power and phone outages, so the 210-916-9900 number will not be operational until the inclement weather clears San Antonio. BAMC’s trauma and emergency services will remain operational.
Additionally:
- The Main Outpatient Pharmacy will be open Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. All other outpatient pharmacies and outlying clinics will remain closed.
- All COVID-19 vaccine appointments are being rescheduled for next week.
- COVID-19 screening and testing operations at BAMC will be closed today and Friday. COVID-19 testing will reopen Monday.
Supervisors are encouraged to consider telework, mission permitting, for their team members Feb. 19.
Staff should contact their chain of command/supervisor to determine their status and for questions or concerns. Contract employees should contact their contracting companies directly. Keep in mind that staff members may be without power or work laptops and may be unable to work from home. Weather and safety leave is authorized.
A winter storm warning remains in effect through this evening, with 3 to 6 inches of snow possible in some areas and up to 8 inches possible in portions of the Rio Grande Plains, southern Edwards Plateau, and western Hill Country.
Continue to bundle up while this record cold continues in South Central Texas. Remember to continue to drip pipes, keep pets inside, check in with high-risk loved ones, and stay safe by staying home!
