BAMC issues important weather update for patients, staff

By Brooke Army Medical Center Public Affairs Brooke Army Medical Center Public Affairs

Due to below-freezing temperatures and hazardous road conditions, only emergency-essential BAMC personnel should report to work Feb. 16.

To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, BAMC has canceled all non-emergency procedures and medical appointments scheduled for Feb. 16, with the exception of some virtual health appointments.

To reschedule, call the Consult Appointment Management Office, or CAMO, 210-916-9900. CAMO will be closed Tuesday and is anticipated to reopen Wednesday, weather permitting. BAMC’s trauma and emergency services will remain operational.

Additionally:
  • All COVID-19 vaccine appointments will be rescheduled for Thursday, Friday and Monday.
  • COVID-19 screening and testing operations at BAMC will be closed Tuesday and resume Wednesday afternoon, weather permitting.
  • All outpatient pharmacies will be closed Tuesday.
Supervisors are encouraged to consider telework, mission permitting, for their team members on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Keep in mind that staff members may be without power or work laptops and may be unable to work from home. Weather and safety leave is authorized.

Staff should contact their chain of command/supervisor with questions or concerns. Contract employees should contact their contracting companies directly.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing into Wednesday morning. Continue to bundle up while this record cold continues in South Central Texas. Remember to continue to drip pipes, keep pets inside, check in with high-risk loved ones, and stay safe by staying home!
