AETC commander swears in newest Air Force enlistees at Daytona 500

With a crowd estimated to be around 100,000 looking on, 30 of the Air Force’s newest Total Force enlistees were ceremoniously sworn into the service prior to the start of the Daytona 500 here Feb. 16, 2020.

Before the start of NASCAR's biggest race of the year, Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, commander of Air Education and Training Command, delivered the oath of enlistment that signifies recruits' official entrance into the Air Force to 26 active-duty recruits and four recruits headed to the U.S Air Force Reserve.

In an official AETC Command Team Facebook post, Webb remarked “Started the day off at the #Daytona500 right, inspired by young men & women who have volunteered to serve in the world’s greatest Air & Space Force! These young Americans represent every core value we hold dear & can’t wait to see what heights they climb to!”

Webb also noted the opportunity to experience the Air Force Recruiting Service’s “Shadow Strike,” which is a 4D immersive experience that allows participants to experience what it is like to be part of a special missions operation, calling it “amazing” while thanking AFRS professionals for their work.

Prior to the swearing in ceremony, Webb also took time out on his official Facebook page to recognize AFRS’s extended marketing partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports, saying, “Caught up with “The King” of NASCAR, Richard Petty! For 12 years now, RP Motorsports has partnered with U.S. Air Force Recruiting to help us inspire the nation’s most brightest & competitive men & women to serve in our United States Air Force & now, United States Space Force! Bubba Wallace drives the AF-sponsored #43 car in today’s “Super Bowl” of racing! We’re rooting for you Bubba! –bw.”
