JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan and Command Sgt. Maj. Alberto Delgado, U. S. Army North (Fifth Army) command team, addressed students recently in the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (U.S. Army SHARP) Foundation Course at held at the Army Medical Department Center and School, Army Health Readiness Center of Excellence at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.
They emphasized the impact the program has on readiness, saying the U.S. Army is a values-based organization where they expect that everyone will be treated with dignity and respect.
Sgt. Maj. Delgado stressed that the students must not only be people of great character but they must be empathetic in handing sensitive cases. Gen. Buchanan also challenged the students to try new things and build training events targeted to their specific populations.
The message our Army leaders want to convey through the SHARP program is that prevention is everyone's responsibility and sexual assault and sexual harassment will not be tolerated.
