The 5th Recruiting Brigade Unit Ministry Team, along with Col. Terance L. Huston, brigade commander, hosted the annual 5th Brigade Prayer Luncheon at the Military & Family Readiness Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston March 29.

Prior to the luncheon, guest speaker Col. James Palmer Jr., command chaplain for the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, spent an hour at the 5th Recruiting Brigade Headquarters conducting a question-and-answer forum with Soldiers from the San Antonio Recruiting Battalion’s Company E.

“The highlight of my day was being able to sit down with the Recruiters of the San Antonio ‘Tiger’ Battalion,” Palmer said as he praised the brigade for giving him the opportunity to interact with the Soldiers.

At the luncheon the audience was treated to several song tributes and a skit on “Living the Army Values” by Soldiers from the company.

Palmer spoke on the luncheon’s theme, “Standing Strong and Courageous.”  As an example, the chaplain talked about Gideon from the Book of Judges to illustrate staying courageous and finding strength in the face of adversity.

Palmer emphasized that it takes courage to stay strong under the pressures of life and faith helps us to stay strong and courageous when facing difficulties and hope helps people to stay courageous and strong when facing adversity in their lives.

The luncheon ended with Huston thanking Palmer for being at the luncheon as well as brigade chaplain, Maj. Abraham Sarmiento, and his staff for setting up the luncheon.
